Support Group

“Sometimes opening up to strangers who are going through the same things can be more helpful than talking to your friends”

- this quote, expressed by one of the participants in one of the support groups, perfectly captures the spirit of these sessions. In 2024, in collaboration with Crossing Borders, and again in 2025 at Station Culture House, I facilitated immigrant-focused support groups designed to foster community, promote mental health awareness, and reduce stigma.

In support group meetings, we typically explore topics such as grief, identity, daily challenges, and the role of social networks in the immigrant experience. All that in a trusting, safe setting that allows the participants to reach mutual understanding of their challenges and gain strength and support from sharing their experiences.

Who it’s for: Internationals and immigrants looking for a safe space to share experiences and challenges

Why it’s worth attending: To connect with others facing similar experiences and reduce feelings of isolation

What you can gain: Emotional support, a sense of belonging, mutual understanding, and practical coping strategies
